Kyla de Lehenstein Collins, Partnerships Manager at Martin House charity was delighted that David Farnell, business advisory partner and lead CR Champion in our Leeds office was able to attend the charity’s Business Breakfast on 13 September 2018.

Kyla explained ‘We wanted to say a big Thank you again to Shoosmiths for being a part of our events at Martin House this year and helping raise an amazing £308,781. This will pay for the hospice to run for 14 days!

Leeds colleague attends Martin House Business Breakfast eventAttendees enjoyed a Yorkshire cuppa and bacon sandwich provided by the Martin House chefs in celebration and a short video was showed of the highlights of the events.

It was a real privilege to hear from Sally Mitcham, a Martin House mum, we are really grateful for her time and were all hugely inspired to hear about her lovely family. Sally writes a blog and has written about the first time she visited the hospice too – ‘It’s a welcome and warmth. The feeling of being well looked after and peace. A little slice of paradise. A weekend that meant more to us than I thought any holiday could.’

During the breakfast we also heard from Tim Halstead (Chair of Trustees) and Martin Warhurst (Chief Executive) who explained that Martin House currently support over 400 families like Sally’s and over 170 more in bereavement care too. However they also explained that at the moment there are well over 3,000 children and young people living with a life limiting condition in North, East and West Yorkshire so there is lots more to do and lots more to raise.

A special thank you to David Farnell of Shoosmiths who went away with lots of plans and ideas to help raise more funds in order to support our children, young people and their families.
