Pennies from Heaven awards Shoosmiths Gold Award status

Thanks to the ongoing commitment of many colleagues across Shoosmiths their contributions to the Pennies from Heaven salary coin collection scheme have now raised more than £30,000 since Shoosmiths joined the scheme in June 2007.

Pennies from heaven GOLD 2020It also means for the ninth consecutive year Shoosmiths has been awarded a Pennies from Heaven Gold Award in recognition of the high numbers of staff participating in the scheme.  The Pennies from Heaven CEO Kate Frost commented ‘the popularity of Pennies from Heaven not only reflects the generosity of your staff but also the tremendous effort you have put into communicating and promoting it through the year. Only a handful of employers are receiving this distinction – to have 36% of your staff donating their pennies is a fantastic achievement.’

Over the years Shoosmiths’ staff have made Pennies from Heaven donations to support larger charities namely the Teenage Cancer Trust, Help for Heroes, Shelter, Great Ormond Street, Brainwave, Macmillan Cancer Support, Barnardo’s and Winston’s Wish.

Since 2015 we have helped 38 local charity partners when we switched from national to local charity partnerships; just a few examples being The Mustard Tree, Northampton and District Mind, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, the Society of St. James and Alzheimer Scotland.

So with the real beneficiaries being the charities that have received donations from our staff we believe that ‘small change is making a big change.’

Pennies from Heaven has to date raised over £5m benefiting 250 charities. If you would like to find out more about contributing your salary pennies to charity do check out: https://www.penniesfromheaven.co.uk/
