The Leeds Shoosmiths office have been supporting Candlelighters since early 2019. They have taken on many challenges since then including a Three Peaks walk in the pouring rain, the Leeds 10k, bake sales, the Great North Run, office raffles and much more!
Their amazing efforts have been reflected in the incredible amount they have raised…over £17,000!
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, fundraising has been difficult, especially for businesses who are working from home and with reduced capacity. Nonetheless, this has not stopped the determined CSR team at Shoosmiths Leeds! They have been continually coming up with innovative ideas to continue their fundraising. Their most recent challenge is a VIRTUAL WALK ACROSS AMERICA! Colleagues have been put in to teams and will be tracking their steps over the next couple of months as their steps add up to the equivalent of walking across the USA. They are doing a fantastic job, and have raised almost £1,000!
Gina Trotter, Corporate Partnerships Executive from Candlelighters said “We are delighted to have the support from the Shoosmiths Leeds team, the effort and enthusiasm from the CSR team is really helping to keep the team up to date and engaged in fundraising activities. The COVID-19 pandemic has been an extremely difficult time for Candlelighters, with corporate and community fundraising falling rapidly, and a loss of 40% of our income over our first quarter. We are so grateful for the team for continuing to raise money for Candlelighters. So far, the money they have raised from their initiatives, including their incredible walk across America, could fund a talking therapy session for 25 children, who have been isolating at home for long periods of time. The team have also recently supported our “new patient packs” by purchasing some items for inside the pack. These will be given to newly diagnosed families to inform them about Candlelighters, to make sure families never feel that they are experiencing their journey alone. We are incredibly grateful for all they continue to do to keep our candle burning here at Candlelighters”
To recognise the efforts of the Shoosmiths Leeds team, they have been chosen as Candlelighters’ Company of the Month in July.
