Shoosmiths’ Moosmith stands proudly in the Herd About MK Cows campaign

Shoosmiths is proudly sponsoring one of the 50 strong Herd About MK cows that were revealed at the centre:mk the weekend of 1 and 2 April 2017 as part of the MK50 birthday celebrations.

Taking over Middleton Hall, the event began with a John Lewis sponsored champagne reception for cow sponsors and other guests including MK North MP, Mark Lancaster, as well as MK Dons FC players, Ben Tilney and Brandon Thomas-Asante. After a rousing speech by Mr Lancaster and his toasting the project, sponsors gathered around their own cow, pulling off its cover to a rapturous applause.

For the rest of the weekend, the herd was open to the public where they admired the creative designs and enjoyed interacting with the likes of the ‘Cowch’ that had been fully fitted with a seat, and Safenames cow (known as www.cow.mk) who was guarding a safe of which the public had to guess the combination to win an iPad (which a lucky young man was presented with on Sunday afternoon).

The public were also given a chance to ‘steak’ a claim on their own cow with the people’s cows known as #MarkTheMoo. This saw them sign their own name on a cow in exchange for a donation to the three local charities that the Herd About MK project support; MK Community Foundation, Willen Hospice and MK Dons SET.

‘We are thrilled with the public response to the cows this weekend, with many people enquiring when they can see them again.’ commented Project Coordinator, Robert Broekhuizen. ‘Having the herd all together for the first time was really special and highlighted the wealth of incredible businesses that the city has to offer.’

The herd are made up of Milton Keynes best brands including, as well as Shoosmiths, (our cow is named ‘Moo Smith the Moover & Shaker’) household names like Santander, Red Bull and BSH Group (Bosch & Neff), as well as local companies such as Saxon Bridge Motor Co., Mirror Outlet and the centre:mk.

The Herd About MK Calendar will include Hunt the Herd which will take place during the six weeks of the summer holidays. In the meantime Moo Smith can be spotted in the Shoosmiths reception at Witan Gate House, 500 – 600 Witan Gate West.

The three charities that will be supported during the campaign are focused on making a difference in Milton Keynes:

MK Community Foundation – a leading grant-making charity that helps to make Milton Keynes a great place to live and work.

Willen Hospice – provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment (also known as specialist palliative care).

MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET) delivers life changing programmes in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area and focuses on education, social inclusion, health and wellbeing, girls and women’s football, football development and community delivery.
