Shoosmiths participates in Time To Change – Time To Talk day 4 February 2016

Shoosmiths took part in the recent campaign called Time To Change –Time to Talk Day on Thursday 4 February 2016 drawing attention to the day and resources available by running a feature on the Shoosmiths intranet landing page.

Mental health problems are not uncommon and affect one in four people each year. Talking can make a real difference – whether by text message or saying a simple ‘how are you?’ over a cup of tea.

‘Time to Change’ is running a national campaign to encourage everyone to increase our face to face communication and talk more.

We reminded colleagues that if anyone is experiencing mental health problems or want to talk about a friend or family member they can talk to their local HR manager or line manager. Or if they would prefer to speak to someone impartial contact the organisation Time to Change via this link.

Shoosmiths provides information for colleagues available on its Health and Wellbeing intranet pages – information includes:

  • Health Support and Advice
  • Counselling Support
  • Stress Guidelines
  • Bereavement Support
  • Budgeting and Financial Information
  • Cycle Safety Guidelines
  • What To Do After A Bereavement
  • Worklife Solutions – Employee Assistance Programme

We also used the day to explain how you can make communication fun using this conversation starter.

Finally we also explained that there is a lot of misinformation about mental health issues using a Mental Health Stigma Quiz to provide examples and test how much people think they know about the subject matter.
