Shoosmiths presented with award at Micro-Tyco Challenge Master Class

Shoosmiths second year trainees Danielle Spencer and Elizabeth Ward, accompanied by Corporate Responsibility Consultant Nicola Ellen, were delighted to be presented with the Micro-Tyco February 2015 award on 20th May 2015 at a Micro-Tyco Master Class with special guest speaker Thérèse Rein.

Thérèse Rein was Australia’s First Lady from 2007 to 2010 and again in 2013 whilst her husband Kevin Rudd was the Country’s Prime Minister.

Thérèse is an extremely successful business woman having recently overseen the sale of her company Ingeus which operates from over 150 locations around the world providing large scale welfare to work and business psychology services, working with groups as diverse as the long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, parents, young people, mature aged people, refugees and migrants.

The master class was organised in order that delegates could pose career related questions to Thérèse and so benefit from her hindsight of wisdom and hard won experience.

85 guests attended the master class, hosted by RBS, with Shoosmiths joining other companies such as Barclays, Standard Life Investments, RBS, Jaguar Land Rover, Mitie, Aviva and Deloitte.

Shoosmiths was invited as a special guest in recognition of the 2nd year trainees winning the February 2015 Micro-Tyco Challenge, raising £15,412 to support the funding of 62 micro loans each to the value of £250 and which will help to transform the lives of 830 people.

Carys Petrie, WildHearts Operations Director explained ‘We had a fantastic evening at the Micro-Tyco Master Class with Thérèse Rein. It was fascinating to hear her insights both into growing a global organisation and her previous role as First Lady of Australia. Her thoughts concerning the importance of delivering excellence with integrity and helping people to flourish were particularly thought provoking. It was fantastic to also meet some of the Micro-Tyco teams from across the country, including our 2015 winners Shoosmiths LLP. We were delighted to present Shoosmiths with its very well deserved trophy!”
