Shoosmiths recognised as a beacon for young talent

Evidencing its reputation as an enlightened and forward-looking employer, Shoosmiths was commended last Thursday at an event celebrating the opportunities offered to young people leaving school and going directly into work rather than university.

The national law firm was named as one of the AllAboutSchoolLeavers.co.uk’s Top 100 Employers for School & College Leavers 2018, whose rankings are based entirely on the opinions of a pool of apprentices and school leaver trainees, who were asked to complete employee satisfaction surveys, covering every aspect of their working lives, from job satisfaction and career progression, to company culture and work-life balance.

The high profile top 100 was revealed at a ceremony at the Sheraton Grand on Park Lane, London hosted by comedian Josh Widdicombe. The rankings include some of the UK’s top brands from the world of banking and finance, automotive, retail, broadcasting, professional services and local authorities. Danielle Owens, head of recruitment at Shoosmiths, said: “At Shoosmiths we are committed to recruiting and training the best talent available and we recognise and support the value of apprenticeships in enabling young people to move early into a career in the legal sector. This enables apprentices to gain experience in a national law firm while they develop and fulfil their career aspirations.”

Shoosmiths currently has 27 apprentices in the business based in our Manchester, Northampton and Southampton offices, completing Level 2, 3 and 4 apprenticeships.
