Ben Bennett is chief operating officer (COO) at Shoosmiths, responsible for supporting business growth, innovation and operational excellence across the firm, thereby helping fulfill its vision to be the UK’s leading law firm famous for its superb client experience.

As a member of Shoosmiths’ board, he leads the business services team comprising projects & innovation, quality & risk, information services, HR & estates management and business development.

Ben joined Shoosmiths in 2019 and works closely with CEO Simon Boss to deliver the firm’s growth strategy.

He brings a deep understanding of the strategic challenges and operational realities of UK professional services firms. He has been in senior management roles and a partner in major professional service firms in three different sectors over the last 15 years. He previously served as Executive Partner at Saffery Champness (accountancy) and before that as Chief Operating Officer at Farrer & Co (law), where his remit included strategic and day-to-day responsibilities across all areas of the firm. Prior to that, he was Executive Officer & European Counsel at the European headquarters of Cushman & Wakefield (real estate), where he supported the development of its UK business and European network.

Beyond work, Ben has previously served pro bono as a governor of three different local state schools. He also sat on the Committee for External Affairs and Insight of the Chartered Management Institute - the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence.
