Khan is a principal associate in the construction and engineering team at Shoosmiths.
 
He has experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of construction, real estate, finance and security documents including letters of intent, pre-construction services agreements, building contracts, consultant appointments, development agreements, facility agreements, sub-contracts, performance bonds, parent company guarantees and collateral warranties. 
 
He has advised and continues to advise a broad range of clients including banks, UK and overseas funds, developers, housing associations and local authorities in respect of the design and construction of commercial, leisure, residential and retail property as well as education sector developments.
 
His recent experience includes acting for:
 
  • a bank in respect of a loan of approximately £500m to a developer in respect of the financing of a data centre development in the UK;
  • a local council developing five mixed-use schemes consisting of approximately 300 residential apartments (both for market and affordable housing) and commercial space with a value of approximately £60m; 
  • the developer of a £200m mixed-use scheme in the UK consisting of 500 residential apartments (both for market and affordable housing) together with commercial and leisure space; 
  • a developer of primary and secondary schools across the UK; and
  • a developer of a 90 room student accommodation building in the UK which used modular construction.
