Matthew is a solicitor in Shoosmiths’ planning department with experience in acting for both public and private sector clients including local authorities, landowners and developers. 

His work includes drafting and negotiating Section 106 Planning Agreements, Section 38/278 Highways Agreements and Section 104/185 Sewer Adoption Agreements in addition to assisting with Section 78 Appeals and Judicial Review Proceedings.

His recent project experience includes:

  • Advising West Sussex County Council on their portfolio of agreements under Sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act 1980;
  • Assisting Grainger PLC in connection with a number of major residential planning appeals; and
  • Negotiating Section 106 Agreements on behalf of Churchill Retirement Living Limited who were awarded the overall “Housebuilder of the Year” award at the WhatHouse? Awards 2016.

Matthew joined Shoosmiths as a paralegal in the planning department in 2014.  He trained with the firm before qualifying in March 2017.
