Nathan is co-head of Shoosmiths’ Real Estate Investment Group, advising some of the firm’s largest clients on major real estate projects.  

With extensive experience of working with private and listed property companies and investment funds on large-scale investment and financing transactions, as well as asset management transactions across portfolios, Nathan is well-known for his forensic transaction management and working to challenging delivery timeframes.

His experience includes advising:

  • a leading global investment business on all aspects of a UK-wide property portfolio, including its disposal for £500m;
  • two global investment funds in respect of the acquisition, disposal, refinancing, and ongoing asset management of a 1m square foot shopping centre in the south east of England;
  • a global investment management firm on the asset management of its 400,000+ square foot shopping centre in Essex;
  • on the acquisition of a major development site for the creation of a new office and life sciences campus;
  • an international motor manufacturing group in connection with the redevelopment and new leases of its UK headquarters campus;
  • a major international manufacturing company in relation to the sale, demolition, redevelopment and lease back of its headquarters, including the form of forward funding agreement entered into by its development partner.

Nathan is a regular commentator on issues impacting the real estate sector, in particular those affecting investors in real estate. He is also one of Shoosmiths’ founding representatives of Platform Places, a coalition of investors, landlords, local authorities, retailers and community organisations, working together with the BPF and Radix think tank, to drive positive social change on high streets and in town centres. 

Nathan spent over 12 years working in the City of London, with more than ten years in the real estate team of Nabarro LLP. Nathan joined Shoosmiths as a partner in 2012.
