Nicola heads up the Manchester offering of the firm's family team.
With her vast and extensive experience of all aspects of family law, spanning from pre- and post-nuptial agreements to cohabitee (unmarried couples) and children disputes, she regularly acts for high and ultra-high net worth clients; many of whom are high profile sports / media personalities and those highest ranking of company executives.
Nicola acted in one of the UK's biggest divorce cases of 2018, in both value and profile, with a net asset base in excess of £154m, and has successfully navigated cases through to the Court of Appeal. She is also experienced in the area of fertility law, including surrogacy and legal matters pertaining to IVF.
Whilst Nicola advises adeptly in all areas of family law, she is renowned for having particular expertise for high-net worth financial remedy cases involving complex issues in relation to trusts, multi-business and/or overseas assets and jurisdictional issues. Furthermore, she has unique experience of forensic investigations, having originally qualified into fraud litigation early in her legal career, and so is frequently sought after in any matter where there may be a concern over hidden or undisclosed assets.
Nicola is fully media trained and renowned for keeping client's personal matters during relationship breakdown out of the spotlight. However, she has, in her own right, previously featured in and/or contributed to various press publications and legal academic journals, including the Sunday Times, Lexis Nexis, Family Law Journal, Cheshire Life magazine, the Manchester Evening News, and the National Crime Officers Association magazine.
