Sarah is a Solicitor in the Property Litigation team in Milton Keynes.

She specialises in residential long leasehold property, specifically extension of leases, collective enfranchisement (where leaseholders collectively purchase their freehold), enfranchisement of leasehold houses and right of first refusal matters under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987.

Sarah's other areas of specialism include undertaking right to manage matters, general lease interpretation work and residential service charge and breaches of lease.

Sarah's recent experience includes:

  • acting for a large group of leaseholders to acquire the freehold of their block of over 100 flats and commercial units;
  • advising on the development of roof space within a large mansion block, in the context of the right of first refusal; and
  • acting for a group of tenants to acquire lease extensions immediately before they became liable to pay marriage value (and thus reducing the cost to them).

Sarah was named “young professional of the year” at the 2019 Enfranchisement and Right to Manage Awards and is a member of the Association of the Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners.

Sarah studied at the University of Leicester and the College of Law in Birmingham. Prior to joining Shoosmiths, Sarah practiced at a London-based firm as a specialist enfranchisement solicitor.
