Simon has 15 years’ experience as a qualified non-contentious construction lawyer.

Simon’s work involves negotiating building contracts, bonds, guarantees, collateral warranties, professional appointments and the construction aspects of development agreements and agreements for lease. Clients include: developers, funds, contractors, housing associations, sub-contractors, local authorities, central government and defence related bodies, higher education institutions and other commercial companies with construction needs. A significant amount of Simon’s work is generated by companies based outside of the UK.

His project experience includes:

  • the negotiation of the contracts and sub-contracts for 2 very high value pharmaceutical projects  (and associated bonds and sub-contracts). These were based on IChemE process plant forms;
  • city-centre developments of hotels, multi-storey car parking and student accommodation;
  • a £50 million engine testing and welfare facility for a "household name" Formula 1 engine manufacturer;a very high value repair and maintenance contract relating to a Council's housing stock;
  • 3 city centre re-developments on behalf of the relevant city councils;

Simon joined Shoosmiths as a Senior Associate in December 2016 having trained and worked at Wragge & Co LLP.

He was identified in Chambers & Partners as an “Associate to Watch”. Clients have described him as a “very good project manager, an excellent drafter and supremely meticulous” with a “huge knowledge of contract forms”.
