Shoosmiths promotes International Womens Day 2015

Shoosmiths recently supported International Women’s Day which is celebrated each year on March 8.

All around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.

Make It Happen was the 2015 theme for the internationalwomensday.com global hub, encouraging effective action for advancing and recognising women.

Posts were run highlighting a number of colleagues. We featured our Chief Executive Claire Rowe and corporate partner Emma Gibson making their mark in The Lawyer Top 100. Partner Helen Burgess reflected on attending a Shoosmiths assessment centre for a training contract through to becoming a partner. Lynn Knight talked about the twists and turns on her journey into law and how to embrace opportunities even if it is not the path you planned.

As Lynn explained ,’Along the way, I’ve learned some valuable life lessons, including the fact that life never goes to plan and we become successful by embracing the opportunities which come our way and making the most of them rather than striving for protection.’

The first International Women’s Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.
