Alex qualified as a solicitor in 2018 and is an associate in Shoosmiths’ employment team covering all aspects of UK employment law.
He has amassed extensive exposure to both employment tribunal litigation and settlement negotiation, acting for both organisations and employees. Alex has recently represented clients in relation to claims for unfair dismissal, unlawful deductions from wages and discrimination claims under the Equality Act.
Alex recognises the importance of reaching agreement on disputes if this is at all feasible, but equally is unafraid to litigate matters in the Employment Tribunal, including seeking the recovery of his clients’ legal fees where appropriate.
Alex uses his tribunal litigation experience to advise organisations as to the consequences of management decisions, allowing him to give advice that is ‘real world’ in its application. For individuals, Alex is adept at supporting people through what are inevitably very difficult circumstances and has a track record of successfully negotiating improved severance packages for his clients.
Alex is a regular speaker at Shoosmiths’ seminars and events and has delivered training to both HR departments and managers on a full range of employment law topics.
