David is a costs lawyer within Shoosmiths' costs team.
 
David joined the costs team in 2018, having joined Shoosmiths in 2015 as a paralegal in the serious injury department. He qualified as a costs lawyer in 2021. 
 
He specialises in costs relating to personal injury and medical negligence litigation, building on his previous experience in these areas. However, he also deals with a high volume of matters involving costs relating to property litigation.
 
David's work includes preparing costs budgets, conducting budget negotiations, advocacy at costs management conferences, preparing bills of costs and conducting assessment proceedings up to and including detailed assessment. He has also represented clients in Solicitors Act assessment proceedings challenging their solicitors' costs.
 
David has been involved in multiple appeals, both in the High Court and in the Court of Appeal.
 
David graduated with a law degree from The University of Manchester in 2009 and was called to the bar in 2010 following completion of the Bar Vocational Course at City University, London.
