Helen joined Shoosmiths in January 2020 as a Senior Associate in our Wealth Protection department based in the Leeds office. Whilst the Wealth Protection department have a strong offering in the Southern regions, that presence has been lacking in the North. Helen's role is to expand the current Wealth Protection offering both in Leeds and across Northern England.

Helen advises business owners and high net worth individuals on all aspects of their estate planning including the drafting of Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Helen also advises clients with cross border issues.

Helen also deals with the administration of estates including complex estates subject to inheritance tax. Helen acts as a professional Deputy and Attorney for clients who are unable to manage their own affairs.

Helen completed her undergraduate degree and post graduate studies in law before qualifying as a solicitor in 2008. Prior to joining Shoosmiths, Helen worked at a regional firm with offices in Leeds and West Yorkshire where she was a director and head of the Wills, Trusts and Probate department.

Helen is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and Solicitors for the Elderly and sits on the local Dementia Action Alliance Steering Committee helping to shape dementia policy in Leeds. She is a Dementia Champion and can facilitate Dementia Friends sessions for clients and intermediaries.
