Leah joined the corporate team at Shoosmiths’ Manchester office in July 2019 from the London office of international law firm Bird & Bird.  Leah has over 12 years’ experience of advising private and public US and European companies on M&A, with a particular focus on high value cross-border transactions, primarily within the technology sector.  Leah also has a keen interest in advising early stage companies on venture debt financing.

Transaction experience includes:

  • Wilhelmsen Ships Service AS: on its $41m acquisition of the Nalfleet business from Nalco Limited.
  • Blinkx plc: on its $30m acquisition of US based ad network Burst Media Corporation.

  • Orion Diagnostica OY: on its acquisition of Geneform Technologies Limited.

  • Kreos Capital on various venture debt financings.

  • MessageLabs Group: on its US$695m sale to Symantec.

  • Atlantic Bridge Ventures: on its £265m acquisition of Logica CMG Telecom Products.

  • MessageLabs Group: on the spinout of its ISP business, Star Technology Services.

  • Managing complex cross border due diligence exercises in support of various acquisitions including those by DXC Technology Holdings (listed on the New York Stock Exchange) of both TESM Ltd (for approx. £45m) and the EG group of companies (approx. £26m); Lorillard, Inc. of UK electronic cigarette business, SkyCig; and F-Secure Corporation (listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange) of MWR Infosecurity Limited, for £80m.
