ShoosmithsLIVE: Why attend an insight evening?

In our latest Facebook live video, graduate recruitment manager, Samantha Hope talks about insight evenings at Shoosmiths, what you can expect at the event, and how it will give your law career a boost.

What is an insight evening?

An insight evening is an opportunity for you to come and see for yourself what Shoosmiths is all about. We hope to answer all of your questions, including: How are we different from other firms? What opportunities do we offer? What does our training contract consist of? What makes our offices unique?

Attending an insight evening will give you an insight into our practice areas and clients, our training contract, and the skills you need to develop and become a successful solicitor. The event will be packed with opportunities for you to meet our people, build relationships, and include valuable advice for your training contract application.

You will hear from our current trainees who will explain what attracted them to Shoosmiths. You will also meet solicitors and partners and hear their journey from trainee to solicitor and why they chose to qualify into a certain area of law. We know you will have lots of questions, so there will be an opportunity for you to speak to everyone during the networking hour.

Why should I attend an insight evening?

You will have the opportunity to hear first-hand what current trainees and solicitors think about the firm. It's a fantastic opportunity to network over drinks; get to know our people and ask our trainees about their training contract and their advice on how to apply. Most importantly, you will be able to introduce yourself to us and make a great first impression before you submit your application!

Our graduate recruitment team will be on hand to answer any questions you have about the application form or the recruitment process.

What else do I need to know?

All of our insight evenings run between 6.00pm - 8.30pm. We run our events in the evening, so you can fit the event around other commitments you have, such as work and study. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the insight evening is due to start (but no earlier).

At Shoosmiths we don't need alcohol to have fun, so our student recruitment events are alcohol-free. This supports the firm's strategy to improve the health and wellbeing of our employees, and to increase diversity and widen access to a career in law.

Whilst you'll want to make a good impression, you won't be assessed at the event. It's simply a great chance for you to find out more about us, and develop your networking skills.

When are the insight evenings?

Insight evenings are held in January and February each year. This means you are able to attend an event and hear all of our top tips before submitting your placement and training contract application.
