Help to Buy scheme: regional price caps to be introduced

The current Help to Buy equity loan scheme in England is set to run until March 2021.

This scheme is only available on brand new properties and enables buyers to borrow 20% of the property value with a maximum purchase price of £600,000.

From April 2021, the scheme will only be open to first time buyers and regional price caps will apply.

Regional price caps

The current maximum purchase price of £600,000 will remain for London, however different price caps will be introduced in different regions across the country. The lowest price cap will be £186,100 in the North East. This means properties with a higher price will no longer be eligible for Help to Buy from 2021.
