Shoosmiths corporate team wins prestigious Legal 500 award

UK law firm Shoosmiths is celebrating after being named as the corporate and commercial firm (specialism) of the year (venture capital) at last night’s The Legal 500 UK Awards 2019.

Head of the venture capital team Alastair Peet collected the award on behalf of the firm, at a ceremony that took place in the spectacular setting of the Guildhall, London. National members of the venture capital team - corporate partners James Foster and Sanjeev Sharma, tax partner Tom Wilde, senior associate Al Hammerton, and corporate technology partner Steve Barnett - also represented the firm, together comprising a team with strength in depth across the UK.

The Legal 500 UK Awards recognise and reward the best in-house and private practice teams and individuals over the past 12 months. More than 50,000 interviews were conducted to ascertain the winners.

Legal 500 noted the firm’s ‘excellent service' to an investor-focused client base, from early stage investment through to late stage funding and how it was praised for its ‘customer focus and sound advice’.

Alastair Peet said: “This award further cements Shoosmiths’ reputation with venture capital investors and the start-up and scale-up communities. We’re thrilled to be recognised for our no-nonsense approach and our reputation for giving our clients an outstanding experience from our 12 locations, regardless of timescales or pressures.

“Venture capital is a really exciting market right now as shown by our continued recruitment including our latest partner addition, James Klein, leader of our London corporate team.”

“The future looks bright as we start building on this recognition as the national firm for venture capital as well as strengthening our international client base in this area.”
