The commercial development team specialises in acting for major UK national developers through all stages of the development process.

That is to say, from purchasing land conditionally, pre-lettings to occupiers, construction of offices, warehouses, retail and mixed use schemes, to forward funding and selling the finished investment.

We have specialists within the development team to deal with issues around planning, infrastructure, vacant possession, real estate tax, agriculture law, mixed use, leisure, retail and construction.

Every facet of each deal is handled with a view to maximising value and minimising developer risk.

Our team understands how to put together an institutionally acceptable investment, what matters, and what goes to value. The team is proactive, commercial and willing to advise on tough decisions. We are part of your team and make it our business to understand your product and your purchasing audience.

We work seamlessly with our construction team to ensure nothing is missed between the development obligations you give away and the construction obligations you get in your building contract. Our construction team works closely with our development team, advising on every facet of the procurement process along the way.

We understand tax, and how it fits with real estate, and have a dedicated tax team to ensure the best structures are put in place. We have significant experience of dealing with 'off-shore clients' developing in the UK, and recently advised an off shore developer on the off shore corporate structure of its £1 billion property portfolio in Europe.

Recent experience includes:

  • Advising on 2m sq ft underground distribution centre with our planning, construction and development team working very closely on this very exciting and innovative development
  • Advising on a £75m regeneration scheme delivering 210,000 sq ft of new offices, pre-let and forward sold
  • Advising on the delivery of a 6.5m sq ft of warehousing on 800 acres, including the development of a rail freight terminal and new motorway junction.
